Mystery Solved! We make PPP Loans (SBA Paycheck Protection Program) Mr. C: Sam Shillo Mr. D: Dean Baseleon Call The question that has been the main topic of discussion in the Joliet area the past several weeks, other than the Covid-19 virus, is who is Mr. C and who is Mr. D? You may recall that we recently indicated that two new bankers were joining us. Well, these are the lucky ones chosen from all of those local bankers that would rather work with us than their current employers. Mr C. Sam Shillo, is an experienced treasury management person. He works with our commercial customers that have complex cash management needs. While we are a community bank, we have all of the bells and whistles that the big banks have. The main difference between us and the big banks is that, with us, you call Samif you have a problem or request. If you are a big bank customer, you are given the number of a call center located who knows where. Once you call the call center, you then wait 30 minutes and are told 10 times that your call is important to them. Then a real person answers the phone. And after you spell your name twice, they tell you that you have the wrong password and that you need to go online and change it before calling them back. Sam would have had your issue resolved while you were still on hold and number 10 in line waiting to talk to someone at the call center. Mr. D, Dean Baseleon, has many years of experience as a loan officer. He's known in Joliet and the surrounding area with clients from Palos to Naperville. However, Dean has something that most loan officers don't have. He has the ability to get things done within a short period of time. If you are a commercial customer and need a loan, you know the drill. You talk to a local loan officer that may or may not work at the branch that you use. He smiles at you. He gives you a gigantic list of items that they will need to consider your loan. You give him what he requests and he ships it somewhere else to be "analyzed." Then you get a call from the loan officer asking a couple of questions that you already answered the first time that you met with him but that he forgot. Then he tells you that the information is complete and it needs to go to the XYZ loan committee of the bank, Amonth later, he tells you that you loan has been approved by XYZ and now needs to go for final approval by the ABC committee. A month after that, he tells you that the loan has been approved but it will take two weeks to produce the paperwork because it is done somewhere else and they are backed up. Finally, you sign the papers and get your loan - maybe. If you were working with Dean, you would have closed the loan long ago and would be making the second payment by the time that the big bank had the papers ready.
