Every year or so, as a public service, we identify a series of prophecies for the new year made by Nostradamus. The Great Seer published his collection Les Propheties in 1555 containing 942 quatrains. Quatrains are verses that are written in Latin and medieval French that predict the future. It's not simple. Someone must first translate the verses into English and then interpret their meaning. Therefore, given the complexity, we gave some quatrains to our brilliant First Secure bankers for interpretation. After a suitable time studying and discussing this information (usually in adult beverage establishments), they came up with their interpretation. They said that Nostradamus said that they should make more money, have more time off and be given free company cars. Management then decided to look elsewhere for another interpretation. There will be "Seven months of great war, people dying from evil." This points to an escalation of conflict between East and West. This could be military conflict or an economic conflict, or both. "Corrupt currencies" and "restless markets" are mentioned. Another line says that "Three fires will rise from the eastern sides while the West loses its light in silence." The three emerging fires could be China, India and maybe, Malaysia or Saudi Arabia. All are emerging financial powerhouses. All have discussed establishing a new currency to replace the dollar for worldwide transactions.
