Hosted by Strong Towns, an international movement dedicated to making communities across the United States and Canada financially strong and resilient, Lockport competed against fifteen other cities for the title. After multiple rounds of head-to-head competition with cities like Bellingham, Washington and Oxford, Mississippi, Lockport took first place through public voting and by impressing the Strong Town member judges.
