As the other leaders didn't want to end up the same way as Stalin, they shot Beria. He wasn't a nice man anyway. There were a few other bosses until the Communists were overthrown and Russia became Russia again. They then became a democracy with multi-party elections, some freedoms and Capitalism, more or less.
