Horror Stories From the Bank Lobby These stories are all true, and are all BS (Bank Stupidity) from other banks For those of you that have read our back page ads previously, you know that we never stretch the truth or exaggerate anything. That said, the following stories really are true. #1 - THE CASE OF THE MISSING TELLER - When the obbies of other banks were open by appointment only, a couple made an appointment at another bank to access their safe deposit box. They went to their bank and accessed their box without incident. The customer then said that she had a deposit to make and the teller window was just a few feet away. The bank executive told her that she couldn't do so and that they had to go through the drive up. She said "but the teller is right here." The bank executive again said that she had to go through the drive up. So they drove past the drive up and drove to First Secure Community Bank. She opened an account and made her deposit . at a teller station inside our lobby. #2- THE CASE OF THE MISSING ACOOUNT NUMBER -A local bank was acquired by another bank several years ago. At that time, the customers were told that they would keep their same account numbers. Now the employees of the other bank are telling customers that they must open a new account with a new account number, Several customers of the other bank just said to close their accounts and make the checks payable to First Secure Community Bank. They then opened accounts at First Secure where you may have an account number, but are treated as a person. #3 - THE CASE OF THE MISSING LOAN OFFICER - A lady in her 80's has a fixed rate loan at another Joliet area bank. The loan officer told her that she would receive a notice about 60 days before the loan was to mature. At that time, she could either renew or extend her loan. When in her bank recently, she inquired about the maturity date and was told that it was this July. She asked to meet with her loan officer. They told her that her loan officer was long gone but said that she could discuss her loan with another loan officer that was at a branch 30 miles away. Upon taking to that loan officer, he said that they wouldn't renew or extend her current loan but would give her a new loan at much less favorable terms. She is now obtaining a loan from First Secure Community Bank at much better terms than the guy at the branch 30 miles away offered. So where do you want to do your banking?
